Two words Joe Biden uttered to Donald Trump as he and Melania are welcomed into the White House

Donald Trump was met with a surprisingly warm welcome from Joe Biden as he and wife Melania arrived at the White House.

It’s official – Donald Trump is now the 47th President of the United States.

During his inauguration ceremony earlier today (20 Jan), the 78-year-old Republican leader was sworn into the White House and Oval Office once again and became the second man ever to serve two non-consecutive terms as US president following Joe Biden’s 2020 stint.

Trump has promised a lot to Americans across the nation ahead of his second term in power. And unironically, first on his list was resurrecting TikTok – which we’re sure went down extremely well.

It was Joe Biden’s last day as President of the United States, and he addressed the nation he has served for four years for the final time on January 16 with a warning.

In a farewell speech, he warned: “I want to warn the country of some things that give me great concern. And this is a dangerous concern. And that’s the dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra-wealthy people.”

However, today, as he welcomed Trump back into the White House – it appeared there was no animosity between the two.

In a friendly two-word greeting, Biden appeared to say ‘welcome home’ as he shook Trump’s hand.

Both Joe and Jill, alongside Melania and Donald, all posed for a photo in front of the iconic building. And it seems the two couples actually share more than one thing in common with each other.

Every President and First Lady are given code names at the beginning of their term.

Joe and Jill were known as ‘Celtic’ and ‘Capri’ by their security teams, for instance.

Meanwhile, back in 2017 during his first stint in the White House, Trump picked ‘Mogul’, as a nod to his entrepreneurship and money-mindedness.

Melania was given ‘Muse’, and his son Donald Trump Jr. is ‘Mountaineer’ – monikers all of which will remain during Trump’s second round at presidency.

However, the Obama’s took a slightly more wholesome approach when deciding their code names.

Barrack was known as ‘Renegade’, his wife Michelle was ‘Renaissance’, their daughter Malia was known as ‘Radiance’, and their other daughter Sasha was nicknamed ‘Rosebud’.

Of course there is just one rule to the names – each family member’s code name has to start with the same letter.

Jill Biden has reportedly accused Melania Trump of breaking a major First Lady tradition.

On Monday (20 January), Donald Trump will assume the presidency, taking over the role from his Democrat predecessor, Joe Biden, making Melania the new First Lady of the United States.

Jill has since reflected on her time in the role as she prepares to leave the White House, opening up about her upcoming replacement reportedly declining an invitation to a ‘customary’ event.

In an exit interview with the Washington Post, Jill revealed Melania did not attend a tea she had invited her to at the White House – a long-held tradition for incoming and outgoing first ladies during the presidential transition.

This prompted Jill to then give Trump a note to pass along to his wife.

“I congratulated her and I offered help,” Jill said of the note, but didn’t end up hearing back from Melania until Jimmy Carter’s state funeral last week (9 January) when Melania thanked Jill ‘during pleasantries’.

Tyla has reached out to the Trump transition team for comment.

Melania has previously made a bold statement ahead of Trump’s return to power.

She told FOX News: “Maybe some people see me as just a wife of the President, but I’m standing on my own two feet, independent, I have my own thoughts, I have my own ‘yes’ and ‘no’.”

Later during the conversation, she explored her first time at the White House, confessing: “The first time was challenging.

“We didn’t have much of the information. The information was… upheld for us from previous administration. But, this time, I have everything!”

Even though she now has ‘everything’, there is one thing she regrets not having last time, and that’s ‘support’.

She shared that she ‘didn’t have much support’ as the First Lady.

Trump’s official inauguration photos, taken by chief photographer, Daniel Torok, have been shared across social media platforms – prompting many to share their thoughts on the pictures.

Now, while some supporters of Trump – who will become the first person convicted of a felony to assume the presidency – were hellbent the 78-year-old looked ‘presidential’, others were far from agreeing.

Amidst the mixed responses, quite a few people pointed out the fact Trump’s eyes appeared to be two different sizes, some even claimed it looked like the work of artificial intelligence (AI) while others commented that the inauguration photo had an uncanny resemblance to his mug shot.

The mugshot in question was taken back in August 2023, when the Republican leader turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia, after being indicted by a grand jury on racketeering charges.
